Our Principles
- Our starting point is to be found in the lived experience of
people with disability.
- We prepare our advice harnessing the wisdom, insight and
skills of our Council members and staff team.
- We are mindful of the past and aware of the present as we work
together for a better future for all people with disability and
their associates.
- We respect the choices made by people with disability in
determining how and with whom they live and form
relationships.
- We value highly the cultural and linguistic diversity within
the population of people with disability.
- We acknowledge, support and work to promote the legal rights
of people with disability.
- We believe that the interests of all people in society are
best served by establishing equality of opportunity for people
with disability.
- We work to encourage a multiplicity of possibilities for the
lives of people with disability based on informed choice and
freely expressed aspirations.
- We prefer to work towards our goals through partnership with
people and organisations committed to a shared purpose.
- We constantly strive to improve our own performance.
- We listen carefully.
- We are accessible and inclusive in the ways we work.
- We are open and honest in our relationships.
- We are accountable to our stakeholders for how we behave, what
we say or do and how we conduct our business, including the
spending of public money.
- We will ensure that everything we do is consistent with the
obligations placed upon us by the Community
Welfare Act of 1987 Section 16 (2).
